About Me

Taysia Thompson, founder of Ask for Asia

The face behind Ask for Asia

Hi, I'm Taysia. Nice to meet you.

I'm a virtual assistant and Shopify specialist based in Ottawa, Canada. I help small business owners and e-commerce founders get out from under the day-to-day so they can focus on actually growing their business.

If your to-do list keeps getting longer and you keep thinking "I really need to hire someone for this", I'm probably that someone.

Where the name comes from

When I worked in customer support, I went by the alias "Asia". Clients would call in and ask for me by name. Over time, "Ask for Asia" became shorthand for the kind of support people actually wanted: calm, reliable, gets things done.

That's what I'm still going for today.

A little about my background

I've spent over a decade in operations, customer success, and support. Before launching Ask for Asia, I worked at Shopify as a Support Advisor, helping merchants troubleshoot, set up, and grow their stores. That experience is honestly one of the things that sets me apart; I know the platform from the inside.

More recently, I designed and built a full CRM system for a fast-growing startup that synced across Airtable, HelpScout, Slack, and Google Sheets. Getting all those moving parts to actually work together is the kind of project I genuinely enjoy.

I'm also doing all of this while working full-time and going to school full-time. So yes, I know what it feels like to have a lot on your plate. That's actually part of why I'm good at helping people manage it.

What working with me actually looks like

📋
I'm genuinely organized
Not just tidy. I build systems that actually hold up. The kind of setup where things have a place and nothing gets forgotten.
You won't have to chase me
If I say I'll do something, it gets done. You'll always know the status without having to ask.
🏢
I used to work at Shopify
I know how the platform works, how to talk to support, and how to get things fixed without going in circles.
💡
I pay attention
If something looks off or could be better, I'll flag it. You hired me to help, not just to follow instructions.

What I'm really about

I started Ask for Asia because I kept seeing the same thing: business owners who were good at what they do, spending half their time on stuff that had nothing to do with it. Inbox chaos, broken store settings, tasks that kept getting pushed to next week.

I wanted to be the person who just handles that. Not with a ton of back-and-forth or hand-holding, just quietly and competently taking it off your plate so you can get back to the work that actually matters.

That's the goal every time.
